Akhilesh pledges to take UP forward

Lucknow, Mar 6 (IBNS) Sweeping the polls in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav said people have voted in favour of their party manifesto and "we will fulfill it and give a new face to the state."
The man credited with modernizing the Samajwadi Party told a press conference on Tuesday, "People had voted in favour of SP's manifesto this time and they voted for us above casteism and religionism."
"We are thankful to the people of Uttar Pradesh for supporting Samajwadi Party and keeping their faith in us," Yadav said.
"SP was continuously struggling to get its position in the state but people of UP have now given us clear mandate. To meet people's expectations we will pledge to fulfill our election manifesto," he said.
Expressing his view on the the development path of UP and the future of national politics, he said, "With this mandate I am sure a better future is waiting for the state and the nation."
"UP has lost its glory and was left far behind other states and I hope UP will lead with SP on developmental path," he said.
Blaming the Mayawati led government, which was rulling for last five years for the deteriorating law and order situation and rampant corruption in the state, he said, "In last five years there were rampant corruption and murders that we can never imagine."
"We will take strict action action against those who will go against law and order," he said.
On the chief minister's post he said, "Still the decision has not been taken, parliamentary board meeting will be held tomorrow. After the meeting we will declare it."
Yadav said that the statues of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and the elephant party symbol of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will not be removed.
"The statues will not be removed," he said.
At around 5:30 pm with trends available for all of the 403 seats in the state Assembly, the Samajwadi party had clinched 183 seats and led in 42.
