New Delhi, Mar 6 (IBNS) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari had greeted Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his party workers for sweeping in the assembly election in Uttar Pradesh and accepted that his party has performed below expectation.
"Our party workers had worked very hard in UP for this election but results are below our expectations," he said.
"People of Uttar Pradesh were upset with Mayawati led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime and due to polarization between SP and BSP, we could not do well," he said.
He also undermined Congress saying even their star campaigner Rahul Gandhi who was expecting a huge turnaround in UP election failed to shine and people rejected the Gandhis.
"The result in Amethi and Rae Bareily has shown that people of UP had voted against Congress this time," he said.
He also said that the result of this assembly election has given them an opportunity to analyse all facts related to their below performance and will make some sound strategy for 2014 Lok Sabha election.
He expected that the BJP will again rule in Uttarakhand for second time and said, "In Uttarakhand we will again form our government and bag about 33 seats."
He also took pride in the Goa results where BJP is going to rule going by the results.
"Catholics also voted for us in Goa. It is a slander campaign that we are anti minority. Goa proved that minority also vote for us," he said.
"This poll will give BJP some strength and we will fight with full power in 2014 for Lok Sabha elections," Gadkari said.
