Mumbai, Aug 9 (IBNS): The BSE Sensex fell 0.23 percent on Thursday after an unexpected decline of India’s industrial output fanned fears about flagging growth in Asia’s third largest economy.
The 30-share benchmark index ended 39.69 points lower at 17,560.87 with 15 of its components closing in the red.
The broader 50-share National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty index ended 0.28 percent or 15.05 points lower at 5,322.95 on Thursday.
Factory output in June receded 1.8 percent, missing expectations of a 1 percent growth and mounting pressure on new Finance Minister P Chidambaram to push for reforms and fiscal consolidation.
