New Delhi, Aug 17 (IBNS) India has not imported any quantity of finished fertilizer from Libya since 2007-08, said Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers Srikant Kumar Jena on Friday.
"Libya is an exporter of urea in a limited quantity. Syria is an exporter of rock phosphate, a raw material used for manufacture of Phosphatic fertilizers," Jena said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
"India has not imported any quantity of finished fertilizer from Libya since 2007-08. However, a small quantity of rock phosphate from Syria is being imported by India," he said.
"Thus the political unrest prevailing in Syria and Libya does not affect the import of fertilizers and its raw material to meet the domestic requirement," he added.
