Hyderabad, Dec 7 (IBNS) Despite assurance from the Andhra Pradesh government that the Telangana issue will be taken up at the state Assembly and all cases will be withdrawn against him, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao refused to end his ‘fast unto death’ even on Monday.

Rao, who has been fasting for over a week now, has been admitted to a city hospital Sunday night where the doctors asked him to end his fast over the demand for a separate Telangana state.
“But Rao stood firm and said he will not do so until he gets an assurance from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over Telangana,” said a TRS leader.
A delegation of Congress ministers from Telangana region will visit Delhi on Monday, reported NDTV.
The bandh called by TRS entered Day 2 on Monday with Hyderabad put on red alert in face of growing violence by the agitators.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah has said the government is ready to withdraw all pending cases against Rao and also discuss Telangana at the Assembly on Monday.
"As a goodwill gesture, Andhra govt withdraws cases slapped on Rao on Nov 29, during his preventive arrest before he undertook the fast unto death. An AP assembly session will begin Monday to discuss the Telangana issue," Rosaiah told reporters.
Major parties, including the TDP, Praja Rajyam and the CPI have announced their support to the resolution on separate Telangana if the ruling party is willing to move it, said a Times Now report. |
