"The situation is serious with students and lawyers protesting," he said.
"The Congress is delaying the Telangana issue," he said. "The state unit of the party is in favour of Telangana. What else do we need?" he questioned.
On Monday, despite assurance from the Andhra Pradesh government that the Telangana issue will be taken up at the state Assembly and all cases will be withdrawn against him, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao refused to end his ‘fast unto death’.
Rao's hunger strike entered its 10th day on Tuesday.
The Andhra Pradesh Assembly has been adjourned for the day after TRS MLAs created a rukus demanding a separate state.
According to sources, most national and state-level parties are in favour of a separate Telangana state.
The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Congress is looking for a solution from the high command. The matter has ultimately boiled down to Sonia Gandhi's decision on the issue.
The UPA chairperson is under immense pressure to clear the Congress party's stand on the Telangana issue. |
