The Ram Pradhan Committee Report, on the lapses of 26/11, is to be tabled at the Maharashtra Assembly Monday.
It has reportedly said Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor should have taken command during the terror attack; but he stood outside the Trident Hotel and gave instructions from there.
“Politicians were punished after the 26/11. Similarly erring cops must also be punished,” said Deshmukh, the Union Minister for Heavy Industries.
Deshmukh was replaced by Ashok Chavan as the Maha CM after the Mumbai Terror Attack.
“We have paid the price. But, what about those who were wielding the guns and were suppose to protect the city?” said the Congressman.
The Report, submitted to the Maha government six months ago, was not made public earlier as the government felt it contained ‘sensitive information’, said NDTV. But now, as the prosecution is almost done with the case, the Congress government changed its mind.
It has reportedly appreciated the efforts of DGP A N Roy and JCP (Crime) Rakesh Maria who was in-charge of the control room, but criticized Mumbai Police’s lack proper arm and equipment.
The attacks began on 26 Nov 2008 and lasted until 29 Nov, 2008, killing at least 166 people (another figure is 173) and wounding over 300.
