Chennai, April 29 (IBNS) Railway officials have started investigating the ‘mysterious’ movement of the Chennai-Thiruvallur train that collided with a goods train Wednesday morning killing six persons.
We still can’t understand how the train started unauthorisedly about 30 mins before the scheduled time. It is quite bizarre and mysterious. We are investigating the matter,” Southern Railway General Manager M S Jayanth told reporters here.
Jayanth further said they would also investigate how the train ran unnoticed for about 7km before it went on a wrong track and collided with a departmental train hauling empty wagons.
The train was to start from Chennai Central Station at 5.15 am Wednesday. Instead it suddenly pulled out of the station at 4.50am. It collided with the goods train at Vyasarpadi Jeeva station, killing six and injuring 15 passengers.
