Jammu to get Special Task Force

New Delhi/Jammu, Oct 15 (IBNS) The Centre will set up a Special Task Force for developmental needs in Jammu.
“In order to examine the development needs of the Jammu region with particular reference to deficiencies in infrastructure and make suitable recommendations, it has been decided to constitute a Special Task Force,” said an official statement.
Abhijit Sen, Member of Planning Commission, has been appointed the chairperson of the task force.
The task force will identify the special development needs of the region and suggest measures for addressing the same.
It will also examine the allocation to the region in terms of infrastructure needs and to make suitable recommendations to overcome the deficiencies.
The Special Task Force shall be provided with all possible assistance by Ministries/Departments and other agencies under the Central/State Government to facilitate its task. The Special Task Force has been asked to submit its report within three months.
It may be recalled that keeping in view the immediate objectives to maintain peace and order and defuse the situation through confidence building measures, Government of India took certain decisions and one of the decisions was to appoint two Special Task Forces for Jammu and Ladakh regions respectively.
