New Delhi, June 24 (IBNS) Two persons were detained by the Delhi Police on the honour killing cases that left three dead, TV reports said on Thursday.

Reports said police are raiding various places for leads to track down the three youths- Mandeep, Ankit and Nakul- on the run after allegedly killing a couple and a cousin sister of one of the victims related to them.

Delhi Police on Wednesday announced cash rewards for anyone providing leads to track down three young men accused of carrying out three suspected honour killings in the national capital in the past week.

The photographs were also released for identification.

“We have identified three three suspects. They are Ankit, 22; Mandeep, 23; Nakul, 21. Rs 50, 000 cash reward will be given for each,” said N S Bundela, DCP –North West.

He said all the three victims- a couple and a cousin sister of one of the victims- also died around same time from bullet injuries prima facie.

The capital witnessed more than one honour killings within a week with latest incident occurring in Ashok Vihar when a couple who belonged to different castes and had married against their parents’ wishes were found shot dead.

Kuldeep Singh, 26, an executive with HCL, was killed inside his car near his house. Inside the house, his 24-year old wife Monica had been shot dead in the bedroom. Moncia’s cousin sister Shobha was also found dead later in another place.

The three men are allegedly involved in the killing of Shobha and the couple.

Police suspect the couple was killed by the girl Monica’s brother Ankit and her cousin Mandeep, both of whom are absconding.

In July 2006, Monica had eloped with Kuldeep and the two got married under police protection. Both came from land-owning families in Wazirpur near Ashok Vihar.

Kuldeep was a Rajput while Monica was a Gujjar. Village elders said there had never been a wedding between the two castes in the area.

Meanwhile, the family of one of the prime suspects supported the killings.

Prime suspect Mandeep's uncle Dharambir Nagar denied Mandeep's involvement in the killing but said “they supported the crime for the sake of family honour”.

"Everything has a limit. Murder is unacceptable but in this case it is good for society. I think these youth should be made to join politics, they are the right role models," said Nagar before TV channels.
