Kolkata, Feb 10 (IBNS): The certificate ceremony of the US Department of State sponsored ‘English Access Programme’ was held at Sir Syed Group of schools in the southern fringes of the city on Wednesday.
The programme aims at spreading ‘Spoken English’ education among the under privileged section of the society who cannot afford to get education from English medium schools.
“This programme is a good opportunity of learning English, we do different programmes and this one is to teach English to disadvantaged, whether minority or others,” said Chad P. Cummins, Director, American Center.
“The idea behind the programme is to see that these children can get admission to good universities for higher education,” he said.
The 2 years after school programme is conducted in multiple corners of the country.
“Our teachers helped us learn English in the most innovative ways, it has helped me more then one way. Well apart from developing my personality the programme has made me ready to face any challenge in life,” said a student of the institute.
