India to get fresh Most Wanted list?

New Delhi, May 20 (IBNS) With gaffes surfacing in its 50 Most Wanted fugitives list, India is likely to hand over a revised list to Pakistan.

The Union Home Ministry has already directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to scrutinize, verify and revise the list, a top official said on Friday.

"The Home Ministry has directed the CBI, IB and NIA to coordinate with each other and prepare a revised and correct list after authentication. After it is prepared, we may send it to Pakistan," the official told media on conditions of anonymity.

Earlier, Home Ministry’s Internal Security Secretary U K Bansal said the list of ‘50 Most Wanted’ will not be recalled from Pakistan.

"The entire list is being reviewed. We have no plan to recall the list from Pakistan," Bansal had told reporters.

A dead HuJI member and a Northeast militant leader are the two more latest errors that tumbled out of the CBI and Indian Home Ministry's Most Wanted List.

Consequent discoveries of embarrassing bloopers in the past few days on the list of Indian offenders hiding in Pakistan the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is left egg-faced and they took off their Most Wanted list from their website.

As reported by NDTV on Friday, the dead Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) leader is named Mohammed Abdul Shahed aka Shahed Bilal. But he was there on the CBI website list of wanted.

Reportedly a former commander of HuJI, he was killed in Pakistan earlier.

He also had an Interpol notice issued against him.

The CBI's wanted list of fugitives contains the name of another HuJI leader who is believed to be second-in-command to Shahed Bilal. He is known as Shaikh Abdul Khaja aka Mohammed Amjad and is currently lodged in a Hyderabad jail, the channel reported.

Another leader exposed in CBI’s wanted list, but actually in custody, happens to be a leader of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF).

A chairman of the Manipuri militant group, Rajkumar Meghen, is still in the custody of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He had been arrested from Bangladesh earlier and brought to India in October 2010.

The series of bloopers on the part of CBI has disclosed shocking goof-ups.

Earlier on Monday, "Most Wanted" Wazhul Khan was found residing in Mumbai though his name featured in the list sent to Pakistan.

After three days another wanted person named Feroze Ahmad Rashid Khan was found in a Mumbai jail on Thursday.

Indian home minister P Chidambaram has admitted the lapses, but the livid Opposition slammed the government for trivializing the fight against terror and offering Pakistan a weapon to deny India's contention on terrorists hiding in that country.

it would be really gratifying to see the CBI head take moral responsibilty for the goofups of his Force and resign. Afterall nobody would expect the Home minister to do so under the current government.
