New Delhi, May 28 (IBNS) Delhi Police on Saturday detained one suspect Deepak Singh in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old Information Technology (IT) student.
“Deepak Singh has been arrested. He is being interrogated over the murder of Shobit Modi,” said a senior police officer.
The officer said they are also keeping a close watch on Modi’s friends at Manav Rachna University in Faridabad and an alumnus of Delhi Public School.
Modi was stabbed four times by unidentified criminals near the gate of his residence at Vasant Kunj at around 10 pm on May 5.
He succumbed to his injuries on way to Fortis Hospital.
The officer said preliminary investigations suggest the attackers were not aiming to rob Modi as his I-pod, wrist watch and purse remained untouched after the incident.
They suspected it to be a personal rivalry. But the cops did not completely discard the possibility of a failed robbery.
Modi was a second year IT student in Manav Rachna University.
