Bangalore, July 1 (IBNS): Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda has been summoned to New Delhi by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership after his government plunged into a crisis with the resignations of nine ministers loyal to former CM BS Yeddyurappa demanding his replacement.
Gowda is likely to visit New Delhi on Monday, reports said.
On Saturday, BJP General Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan in Bangalore met the ministers and other leaders and reports said a compromise is being worked out.
Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president K. S. Eshwarappa on Saturday said the resignations of nine ministers, who are loyal to former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, will not be accepted.
“There is no question of accepting the resignation of the Ministers,” Eshwarappa told reporters.
Meanwhile, Gowda on Saturday said he had discussions with BJP's Karnataka in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday night.
"I had a brief discussion with Pradhan last night," Gowda said. "They have expressed that everything will be resolved smoothly."
He met Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj on Saturday to discuss the Budget session.
The followers of Yeddyurappa had been putting pressure on the BJP central leadership to appoint Rural Development Minister Jagadish Shettar in the place of Sadananda Gowda.
Yeddyurappa, the powerful south-Indian leader of BJP, on July 31 last year was forced to resign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka after he was indicted by the then Karnataka Lokayukta N antosh Hedge in the illegal mining report.
Sadanand Gowda was made the CM, but now Yeddyurappa is making a repeated attempt to come back to power.
Yeddyurappa and his family members were named by Hegde in what was called a Rs 16,000 crore illegal mining scam.
