Srinagar, Aug 3 (IBNS): A top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist commander was killed in an encounter with security forces in a village in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.
The encounter started last evening when security agencies received a tip off about the militant Abu Hanzla's presence in the area.
The gunfight between the militants and the forces was put on hold for the night a final assault was launched early this morning.
The premises where Hanzla was holed up has been completely gutted down in the assault that was launched by the troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles and Police.
Official sources said the terrorist was one of the top ranking commanders active in Kashmir and involved in several attacks on civilians and security forces in the region.
