Dehradun, Aug 3 (IBNS): At least 1,000 pilgrims are stranded in different corners of Garhwal after several landslides occurred in Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts of Uttarakhand.
Heavy rains have triggered landslides in the area in the past couple of days.
The vehicular traffic has been disrupted on both Rishikeish-Badrinath and Rishikesh-Gangotri highways due to the land slides.
Disaster Management and Mitigation Centre (DMMC) officials have said that intermittent landslides were still occurring since Thursday night at several areas in Chamoli district like Paatal Ganga, Birahi, Bhimtalla.
According to reports, vehicular traffic on Gangotri-Rishikesh Highway has been disrupted due to landslide in Bhatwari and Thiran Halkughat areas.
A least 500 pilgrims are stranded on the highway, reports said.
