Pitroda dark horse in Presidential election

New Delhi, Apr 4 (IBNS): Leading Indian innovator, entrepreneur and policymaker Sam Pitroda's name is coming up in the paradigm of Indian politics as he has reportedly emerged as one of the contenders to be elected as the next President of India.
The next President of the country will be elected in July.
Pitroda, currently advisor to Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on public information infrastructure and innovations, will face tough competition from other strong contenders for the position that include names like Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and statesman Dr Karan Singh.
As technology advisor to late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Pitroda heralded the telecom and computer revolution in India.
Pitroda is also an advisor to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the 'Resurgent Bengal' campaign.
Pratibha Devisingh Patil is the current President of India.
Patil assumed office as the 12th President of India on July 25, 2007.
She is the first woman to have been elected to this august office.
