Hyderabad, July 6 (IBNS): A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Friday granted permission to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to quiz YSR Congress party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection to a disproportionate assets case.
The court allowed the ED to question Jagan between 10 am-5 pm from July 7 to July 21 at Chanchalguda Central Jail.
He will grilled in the presence of his lawyer.
The ED had earlier asked for permission from the court to question Jagan as a suspect in the case and not as an accused.
The CBI court earlier this week heard the arguments of both the ED and Jagan before reserving its order till Friday.
Jagan had filed an application that opposed the ED's petition and told the court that it could quiz those people who are appearing for Jagati Publications and he was no more the chairman or director of the company.
The ED had told the court during the hearing its petition that it wanted to record the statement of the YSR Congress party chief as the then chairman or director of the company.
Jagan has already been booked by the ED for allegedly violating the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on July 4 dismissed the bail plea of Jagan who is languishing in jail in a disproportionate assets case.
Jagan was arrested by the CBI on May 27.
A court on June 1 had dismissed the interim bail plea of Jagan in connection with the case upholding the contention of the investigating agency that the petitioner may tamper with the evidence.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court ordered a CBI probe into Jagan's wealth on Aug 11, 2011 after Congress leader P Shankar Rao filed a written petition in Nov 2010 seeking it, terming his property as “ill-gotten”.
