New Delhi, Aug 8 (IBNS) The month-long monsoon session of parliament begins on Wednesday with the Opposition training their guns to attack the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) over issues like Assam ethnic violence and economic chaos in the country.
In Assam the ethnic clashes between the Bodos and Muslims continued to rage even after visits by Prime Minister and Home Minister to the region where the cycle of violence claimed more than 75 lives.
The BJP has indicated that it would raise the Assam violence issues.
New finance minister P Chidambaram, who was the home minister earlier, also met the senior BJP leaders ahead of the monsoon session.
Chidambaram can be attacked once again over the 2G scam issue, especially over the Aircel-Maxis deal in which his name has been dragged.
Chidambaram heads the empowered group of ministers who would decide on the issuance of fresh 2G licenses.
The Left parties are likely to raise the food security bill and the Maruti plant violence.
About 30 bills are awaiting passage in parliament. Among them is also the politically sensitive Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill.
The ruling party leaders said they are hoping that the Opposition would let the house transact its business.
