"Raisina Hill dumping ground for failures"

India Blooms News Service

Mumbai, July 10 (IBNS): Presidential poll candidate PA Sangma on Tuesday slammed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and said the Raisina Hill has become a 'dumping ground for the failures' during the tenure of the ruling party.

"Raisina Hill has become a dumping ground for failures," Sangma said while addressing a press conference on Tuesday.

Pertinently, New Delhi's Raisina Hill is an area that houses India's most important government buildings including Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Sangma said he is confident of winning the upcoming Presidential poll.

He is in Mumbai on Tuesday as a part of his campaign for the upcoming poll for the titular post.

He urged the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) an Shiv Sena to support his candidature.

“I have come here to appeal to parties, specially the NCP and Bal Thackeray (Shiv Sena supremo) to support my candidature," he said.

Both the Shiv Sena and the NCP have announced that they will support UPA's Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee in the poll.

Appreciating the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance ( NDA) government, Sangma said: "NDA government under Vajpayee (former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee) performed very well."

He also called NCP supremo Sharad Yadav as 'shrewd' politician.

Sangma earlier resigned from the NCP to contest the election.

He is supported by the BJP, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The Presidential election will take place on July 19.
