Srinagar, Aug 11 (IBNS): One soldier of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) was injured in firing from the Pakistani side in Jammu and Kashmir, media reports said Saturday.
The firing was part of a ceasefire violation in state’s RS Pura sector triggered by the Pakistani side, the reports said.
Four forward posts of the BSF were said to have been targeted; the firing is on from both the sides in Jammu and Kashmir and is spread in an area of around two kilometres.
This is the fifth ceasefire violation within a week in the state following an incident on Monday when two jawans were wounded by Pakistani firing in Hiranagar.
The men had been injured when suspected Pakistani soldiers had targeted an ambush post of the BSF with rockets and small arms, reports said.
Earlier, Pakistani Rangers had resorted to unprovoked firing at a BSF post in RS Pura sector on Sunday.
The offensive could be a jittery reaction against the detection of a 400-metre long Pakistani tunnel in the state's Samba sector on July 28 and the subsequent lodging of a strong protest over the issue by India on July 31.
