New Delhi, Apr 14 (IBNS): Electoral fates of 2,400 candidates will be decided by Delhiites as they cast their ballot for the municipal elections on Sunday.


The voting for 272 wards in three civic bodies - East, North and South - carved out from the present Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), will commence from 8 am and will continue till 5:30 pm.

The campaigning for the MCD polls ended at 5:30 am on Saturday as candidates across party lines tried to woo voters for the past couple of days.

Around 70,000 officials have been deployed by the State Election Commission for properly conducting the polls on Sunday.

1.12 crore eligible voters are likely to cast their votes at 11,500 polling stations on Sunday.

The main fight will be seen between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The counting of votes will take place on April 17.
