Mumbai, July 13 (IBNS): United Progressive Alliance (UPA)' s Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee on Friday met Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray at his Mumbai residence.
Mukherjee, thanked Thackeray for supporting his conveyed his gratitude to the right wing Hindu nationalist leader for supporting his candidature.
"I came here to thank him for supporting me. I am meeting all leaders who have extended support to my candidature," Mukherjee said at the end of their 20-minute meeting.
Union Agriculture Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar and other state Congress leaders also accompany Mukherjee.
Mukherjee was in Mumbai on Friday as a part of his campaign for the upcoming Presidential election.
He will also meet leaders from different state political parties who have supported his candidature during an event in Mumbai's Nariman Point.
Shiv Sena, which is a partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has batted for Mukherjee for the upcoming poll for the titular post.
The BJP on the other hand is supporting P A Sangma as their candidate against Mukherjee.
The Presidential election is scheduled for July 19.
