New Delhi, July 14 (IBNS): Railway Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mukul Roy on Saturday said he will convey the decision taken by the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) to renominate Hamid Ansari for a second term as the Vice-President of the country and leave it to the party to take a final call on the issue.
"We are allies of the UPA. I will go back and communicate the decision taken in the UPA meeting to the party. The party will decide on the matter," Roy told reporters here on Saturday.
Roy attended the UPA meeting on behalf of West Bengal Chief Minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee.
Banerjee, after opposing Pranab Mukherjee as the Presidential candidate, has also made it clear that her vice-president choices are different.
The West Bengal Chief Minister has rejected a dinner invitation from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for all members of the UPA on the night before India’s Presidential election on July 18.
The TMC and the Congress, the two partners in the state and at the centre, are at loggerheads of late over many issues, including the Presidential election.
