New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said that Union minister V Narayanasamy had made a "breach of privilege" by saying that the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) was not following its mandate.
Narayanasamy, who holds several portfolios including that of minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office, on Friday said, "Unfortunately, CAG has a certain mandate under the constitution. According to me, CAG is not following the mandate."
The remarks came after the state auditor said that the government had lost more than Rs 3 lakh crore owing to questionable deals in coal, aviation and power sectors.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters in New Delhi that the party will take "action" on his statement on Tuesday when Parliament meets.
"What leaders like V. Narayanasamy have said is a breach of privilege. We will take action on Tuesday," he said.
Javadekar attacked the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government saying, “Their corruption has been exposed, so now they are trying to shift blame on others.”
