New Delhi, Aug 18 (IBNS): A Delhi court on Saturday remanded former Haryana Minister Gopal Goyal Kanda, who was accused of abetting the suicide of his former employee and air hostess Geetika Sharma, to seven-day police custody.
The Delhi Police was given the custody of Kanda by the Rohini court.
Kanda surrendered before police in the wee hours of Saturday. He was immediately arrested.
Kanda told newspersons waiting before the Ashok Vihar police station night long that he was surrendering on his own will.
The surrender followed rejection of Kanda’s anticipatory bail plea by the Delhi High Court on Friday.
The Rohini court on Thursday issued a non-bailable warrant against Kanda.
The police earlier issued a lookout notice for Kanda.
Geetika committed suicide recently by hanging herself at her Ashok Vihar residence in North-West Delhi.
The police got a suicide note from Geetika's apartment where she blamed Kanda for breaking her 'trust'.
She had left MDLR Airlines and joined another company.
She later quit the second job to study MBA.
The police registered a case against the former minister for abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
