Panaji, July 20 (IBNS) The Goa government has granted three licenses to land-based casinos since last three years, the assembly was told on Friday.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, in a written reply tabled on the floor of the House in the ongoing Goa Legislative Assembly session, stated that no offshore licenses were issued during this period.
The licensees namely Trade Wings Hotels Limited, Raffles Square Development Pvt Lt and Vision enterprises were issued licenses to operate in the state with certain terms and conditions.
The House was also told that a whopping Rs 1.47 crore was generated in the three casinos from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2012.
Goa has quite a few land-based casinos and six offshore casinos, which the government is planning to shift from the Mandovi River to Arabian Sea.
