Lucknow, Aug 20 (IBNS): Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma on Monday said the 2014 Lok Sabha polls will see a political contest between Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
"It is going to be a contest between Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi in the 2014 elections," Verma told reporters on Monday.
Verma on Sunday courted a fresh controversy by saying that he was 'happy' with the 'inflation'.
“Dal, wheat, rice, vegetables have become expensive. The rising prices will benefit the farmers," Verma told reporters on Sunday.
"I am happy with the inflation," he said.
He also drew the flak of Samajwadi Party (SP) by calling party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav 'crazy'.
Verma on Sunday said Yadav's dream of forming a government at the Centre will never be fulfilled.
He told media: "Mulayam Singh has become crazy. His dream of forming a government at the Centre will never come true."
Reacting to the comment made by Verma, SP leader Mohan Singh said: "If the government does not remove him (Verma) then we will need to reconsider and rethink about our decision to support the government."
