Guwahati, Aug 20 (IBNS): Four people, including three top leaders of pro-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA), were arrested in connection with a double murder case in Guwahati on Monday, police said.
They were arrested from Helsa in Nalbari district on Monday.
The arrested pro-talk ULFA leaders were identified as Hira Saraniya, Pradip Choudhury and Pankaj Kalita.
Police also arrested Sarfaraj Ali Nawaj, a lawyer in connection with the murder case.
“The team leaded by Hira Saraniya had looted cash and ornaments from the house of Rajan Lohia, a businessperson of Guwahati on July 30 and kidnapped one Suresh Patel, an employee of the businessperson and killed the employee,” Guwahati city SSP Ananda Prakash Tiwari said.
“We had launched a search operation of the dacoity case and arrested the persons,” the SSP said.
The nabbed also revealed that they had killed Binit Jain, the accountant of the businessperson.
“Two people are absconding, but we will catch them shortly,” the SSP said.
Meanwhile the four arrested are being interrogated at Panbazar police station.
