New Delhi, July 27 (IBNS): Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) V. Narayanasamy on Friday criticized Team Anna and said the anti-corruption group are 'fooling' the people of the country.
He said the intentions of the anti-corruption group were 'exposed' after it announced their plans of launching a 'political party'.
"They have told openly today that they are forming a political party. Their intentions are exposed," Narayanasamy told reporters.
"Their agenda has now been exposed. They are fooling the people of this country," he said.
Narayanasamy's comments came at a time when veteran social activist Anna Hazare said he will think of joining politics if the people of the country wanted him to do it.
"If people say that Anna should enter politics, then I could think about it," Anna said in an interview with IBN18 Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai.
Anna, however, said he would not contest elections but support a political party that would be launched by a person intending to fight against the problem of corruption.
Anna said he will give a 'political alternative' to the people of the country,
"I will not go into politics but I will give a political alternative to the people," Anna said.
"I will not fight in elections. But if anyone fighting against corruption launches a political party, I will support it. I think the people are ready for an honest candidate," he said.
Anna said: "The government too has been laggard in bringing in the Lokpal Bill. It has been two years since our protest for a strong Lokpal Bill began. May be the time has come to look at an alternative. But I still hope that the government will introduce it."
Meanwhile, Team Anna's indefinite fast at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar entered its third day on Friday.
The members of the anti-corruption group began the movement on Wednesday.
Team Anna's key members like Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia are taking part in the fast.
Anna earlier said he would begin an indefinite fast from July 29.
Anna said the goals of the fresh agitation are for a strong Lokpal Bill since the government went back on its promise to enact the anti-graft ombudsman bill.
He said earlier that if the government did not act on their demands they would begin a Jail Bharo (Fill the Jail) agitation by courting arrest all over.
Anna said the government is scared of the Lokpal Bill since 15 of the 35 ministers in the government face corruption charges.
