Srinagar, July 28 (IBNS): Two tourists from Mumbai died and six others were injured in a gas cylinder blast inside a tourist bus in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Saturday, said police.
According to eyewitness, a gas cylinder exploded inside the tempo trawler in which the 12 tourists from Mumbai were travelling from Pahalgam to Bijbehara.
Two women who died in this 'mysterious' incident were identified as Bharti Jain and Parineta Preitam.
According to driver Ashok Kumar something was thrown into the bus. However the locals present there refuted his claim and confirmed that the blast occurred inside the bus.
The police have refuted some media reports that claimed it was a grenade attack.
According to Jammu and Kashmir Police, "A cylinder exploded in a vehicle which was on way from Srinagar to Pahalgam bearing registration number JK02AP/0676 at Zuripora, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district in which 6 persons were injured of whom two were declared dead.”
