New Delhi, Mar 29 (IBNS): Congress leader Rajeev Shukla on Thursday said Defence Minister AK Antony will take action against the person who will be found guilty of leaking Army Chief' VK Singh's secret letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
"I made it clear that this kind of thing is against national interest," Shukla told reporters.
"He (AK Antony) will decide what action will be taken by him," Shukla said.
Meanwhile, Antony on Thursday said whoever has leaked the Army Chief's secret letter to the Prime Minister in public domain is an anti-national, who would be identified and punished.
"Whoever leaked this letter, that act is anti national. No patriotic Indian can do it. It helps only our enemies," he told a press conference here.
He said the IB (Intelligence Bureau) has been asked to probe it.
He said further action would be taken and the government would go to the root of this leak.
"We will ultimately found out the person and take strongest action under Indian law," he said.
Indian army chief Chief General V K Singh on Thursday rejected allegations that he was responsible for the leak of a confidential letter written by him to the Prime Minister that had warned about the army's obsolete equipment posing a national security threat.
“This is an outrage! Official communication with the PM, RM or anybody for that matter with the Chief of the Army Staff is privileged information. The leaking of the letter should be treated as high treason,” Singh said, a day after the letter sparked off a political storm in New Delhi.
General V K Singh dropped a bombshell with a newspaper interview recently that quoted him saying that an equipment lobbyist (identified allegedly as a retired lieutenant) offered him a bribe of Rs 14 crore in lieu of clearing the purchase of 600 substandard vehicles.
