New Delhi, July 31 (IBNS): Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is likely to be made the Finance Minister of the country, media reports said on Tuesday.
According to government sources, Chidambaram will take over as Finance Minister, while Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde will be made the new Home Minister.
Union Minster for Corporate Affairs M. Veerappa Moily is likely to get additional charge of Power.
A major Cabinet reshuffle is likely to take place in the upcoming days.
The Rashtrapati Bhawan is likely to issue a notification in connection to the Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday evening, reports said.
The post of the Finance Minister fell vacant after President Pranab Mukherjee resigned from the post to contest the election for the titular post.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is looking after the Finance Ministry at present.
Pertinently, Chidambaram had served as the Union Finance Minister from May 2004 to November 2008.
