New Delhi, Aug 7 (IBNS) National Coach Wim Koevermans has named his list of 27 probables for the forthcoming Nehru Cup which kicks-off at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from August 22.
Koevermans has been in charge of the ongoing preparatory Camp at the KSFA Stadium in Bangalore from August 3, 2012. The Team will shift base to Jaypee Greens in Greater Noida in mid-August for the final preparation phase for the Tournament.
Among the 27 players, only striker Sunil Chhetri hasn’t joined the Camp in Bangalore as yet. However, the AIFF has received written assurances from Chhetri’s side that he will be joining the Camp on August 12, 2012. The AIFF-Player-of-the-Year is presently playing for his Portuguese Club Sporting Lisbon.
Koevermans had a detailed discussion with Chhetri’s Coach and the player himself. “I’m happy that we got confirmation from his club on his release on August 12 and that leaves us get enough time to work with the player to prepare ourselves for the Nehru Cup,” Koevermans said.
The Coach will be selecting the final 20-member squad ahead of the Nehru Cup.
