London, July 20 (IBNS): With two world championship titles and a couple of Youth Olympic Gold medals already in his pocket, 19-year old Qiu Bo of China is now all set to prove his diving skill at the forthcoming Olympics Games here.
After winning the 3 meter spring board and 10 meter platform diving at Youth Olympic Games 2010, in Singapore, Bo made his country proud winning a couple of world title a year later at Shanghai in 10 meter events.
One of the strong contenders for winning golds in diving events for men at London 2012, Qiu Bo feels his winning two golds at Singapore Youth Olympic Games helped him a lot to prepare for the Games, beginning here on July 27.
Singapore meet has helped him to have a more stable and open mind.
He is less anxious about the upcoming London Games.
According to Olympic Review, Bo grew up dealing his boyhood heroes - Dmitri Sautin of Russia and Tian Liang of China.
“They were the outstanding divers who dominated the field whenever they competed,” Bo said and added, “I also have a lot of respect for Greg Louganis of United States”.
Bo said he is now more open minded and better balancing life with training and knowing how to relax.
“I often repeated one dive for more than 30 or 40 times if I was not satisfied. This repetitive approach caused me injuries in the past. I am more rational in the way I deal with training, compete, my studies and free time”, the diving sensation said.
Asked what he does when not practicing, Bo said “I am a quiet person. I like to watch comic drama, films and traditional Chinese comedy to help me relax.”
