London, July 26 (IBNS) Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna have been seeded seventh in the doubles event of the men's Tennis in the upcoming London Olympics, which will be inaugurated here on Friday.
Both the Indian entries in the men’s doubles face comparatively easier opponents when the competition start at the All England Tennis Club grass courts in Wimbledon on Saturday.
Seventh seeded and India’s one of the medal hopes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna, will meet Max Mirnyi and Alexander Bury of Belarus in the first round of the men’s doubles in Tennis event of the Olympic Games here .
In the pre-quarter final, the Indian duo, who have been placed at the top half of the draw will take on the winners of the other first round match between Colin Flaming and Ross Hutchins of Great Britain and E J Bennet and Richard Gasquet of France, provided they overcome the first round challenge.
The other Indian challenge in the men’s doubles would be undertaken by Leander Paes and Vishnu Vardhan, who will begin their chase for the medal by taking on Robin Haase and Jen-Julien Roger from Netherlands.
If they win their first round match, Leander and Vardhan will meet a strong challenge as they will face the winners of the tie between David Nalbandian and E. Shwank of Argentina and second seeded Michael Llodra and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga of France in the pre-quarter finals.
Bryan brothers from United States, Mike and Robert have been seeded top.
India also have an entry at the Women doubles where Sania mirza and Rushmi Chakravarthi will play their first match against Chia-Jung Chuang Chu-Wei Hsieh of Taipe.
