Kolkata July 27 (IBNS) Williamson Magor A continued its domination as yet again it lifted the title of The Telegraph Merchants’ Cup Golf presented by Emta in association with Ballantine’s.
Though there were a few anxious moments in this nail-biting encounter as excellent competition was posed by former junior tennis champion, Pradeep Bajoria, however it still wasn’t good enough to dampen the focused approach of Lakshman Singh.
The winning total was 221. Madhya Bharat finished third.
Sanjeev Mehra of RP Sanjeev Goenka returned the best gross score of the tournament with a two under par 70.
The Telegraph Challenge Cup Golf was annexed by DBS Bank who came from behind winners at 111 followed by Indusind Bank Blue with 110 and the third spot being clinched by South India Projects with 109.
The best gross in The Telegraph Challenge Cup Golf was won by Sanjeev Khan.
The ladies event also saw some keen golfing action among the twelve ladies on show. However, it was Harjyoti Bindra who came out as the winner, followed by Karishma Parekh and Kavita Roy in second and third spot respectively.
The Telegraph Merchants’ Cup Golf day’s best was won by Harjyoti bindra at 65 nett in Division 1, Division 2 had Rajeev Parmar at 63 nett in lead position and in Division 3 it was SS Marwah at 64 nett.
Division 2 was keenly contested and won by Goodricke A at 243 and followed by Luxmi Tea at 247. Division 3 was won by Tinplate A at 241 and Williamson Magor E at 244 who will now move to division 1 in the next edition.
The best net team was Tijiya Engineering at 195 nett.
Manish Agarwal of MCS Ltd had the enviable achievement of having a hole in one on hole number 13 on the final day and won himself a Callaway watch and trophy.
Andrew Yule & Company-B won the wooden spoon for the most sporting team.
