Anglian Holdings buys into soccer club

Kolkata, Feb 29 (IBNS): Anglian Holdings, an NRI-owned multi-national corporation with diverse global investments, announced the acquisition of stakes in Indian soccer club Shillong Lajong FC, here on Wednesday.
Anglian Holdings CEO Sports Dhrub Ratra, General Secretary of Shillong Lajong FC Larsing Ming Saywan and Club President of FCV Vikings Kurt Anderson were present at the occasion.
Ratra said, “Our vision is that how to take Indian football to the next level, lift the talents in both player level and coaching and infrastructure level. So our immediate plan is to take some kids of Shillong Lajong FC to Europe as we have training and coaching staffs there and see how they adopt themselves because it is very cold there and the have language problem also.”
“The goal is to create an Indo-European bi-directional pipeline and express themselves in the global stage. We are also planning to set up a world-class academy in India,” he added.
Anderson said, “We will take Indian football to the level where they can compete with the world and we will create the club from ground level and give them the prefect infrastructure, training and atmosphere and will groom Indian talents.”
Anglian Holdings also announced about their recent investment in the Denmark-based football club, FC Vestajaelland( FCV Vikings), with the strategic intent to exchange talent, knowledge and expertise between two clubs.
The jersey between FC Vestajaelland and Shillong Lajong FC was exchanged during the event.
Ming said, “In the next five-six years, we will be able to contribute players to national teams and by 2020, we will be able to contribute a national team, who will be participating in the World Cup.”
