Amul cuts prices of 1-litre milk packs by Re 1; relief for consumers

New Delhi: Amul has reduced the price of its 1-litre milk packs for Gold, Taaza, and Tea Special variants by Re1, media reports said.

The price cut is applicable exclusively to 1-litre packs, reported India Today.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), announced the revised prices.

Following the reduction, a 1-litre pouch of Amul Gold milk will now cost Rs 65 instead of Rs 66, Amul Tea Special will be priced at Rs 61 down from Rs 62, and Amul Taaza milk will cost Rs 53 compared to Rs 54 earlier.

In June 2024, Amul had raised milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, prompting Mother Dairy to follow suit with a similar hike.

According to Mehta, the price reduction aims to provide relief to consumers and encourage higher milk consumption, with no other underlying reasons for the change.
