Mumbai, Mar 28 (IBNS): Jet Airways, the country’s full-service, premiere international airline, has started direct daily flights between Mumbai and Madurai (Tamil Nadu) and Mumbai and Bagdogra (West Bengal).

The airline also commenced direct daily flights between Jaipur (Rajasthan) and Chandigarh.

With its new services, Jet Airways has made it easier and convenient for tourists, investors, delegates and regular flyers to travel to these emerging cities and metros.

Prior to the launch of the inaugural service, Jet Airways conducted a ‘pooja’ and lit a symbolic lamp to mark the occasion. Dignitaries at the event presented floral bouquets and boarding passes to passengers on the inaugural flights.

While Bagdogra is a major gateway for travelers to Eastern India, especially to scenic destinations in Darjeeling and Sikkim; Madurai - a major historical city, ranks among the most popular holy sites in the country, accounting for significant amount of pilgrimage / tourism related traffic.

The maiden Mumbai-Madurai flight 9W 336 departed Mumbai at 1005 hrs. and arrived at Madurai 1300 hrs. The return flight 9W 357 departed with a full complement of guests at 1335 hrs. from Madurai and reached Mumbai at 1535 hrs.
