State Bank opens folk art gallery at Alipore branch

Kolkata, May 18 (IBNS): State Bank of India has come forward to promote the traditional heritage of folk art prevalent at various parts of the country.

To implement the initiative, the Alipore Branch in Kolkata has been given a new look to showcase the marvel of selected folk painting, artworks and artifact.

The display will give opportunities to the visitors at the branches to familiarize them with these unique memorabilia.

State Bank Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya in presence of Rajnish Kumar, Managing Director (NBG) and Partha Pratim Sengupta, Chief General Manager, Kolkata Circle inaugurated the ‘Glimpses of Folk Art of Bengal’ at Alipore Branch, Kolkata.

The display contains Kalighat Patachitra, Heritage print collections, Wood cut prints, Terracota and Dhokra works, famous clay dolls of Krishnanager, Wooden Crafts of Santiniketan, Chow musk etc. which will no doubt be the connoisseurs choice.


This initiative will be roll out at other selected branches of the Bank throughout the country to uphold and promote the cultural heritage of different States of India in coming days.
