New Delhi, Aug 29 (IBNS) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has welcomed the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

“CII welcomes the launch of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana to empower India’s poor. It is an innovative and much needed step in the right direction which will address the biggest National Challenge i.e. eradication of poverty, through financial inclusion.”, said Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII.

Banerjee said: “It’s a unique plan, which offers many benefits through opening of a single account. The plan seeks to give India’s poor, access to affordable financial services like savings account, easy credit, and insurance. This will also allow the government to transfer the subsidy benefits directly to the end consumer which will help in plugging the leakages occurring in the current system. Implementation of the Yojana at the ground level will be key to the successful achievement of Financial Inclusion goal of the Government. CII will extend all possible support to the Government in making this Yojana a success.”

Modi  launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) at a function in New Delhi on Thursday.
