UN chief lauds India's decision to ratify Paris climate agreement
New Delhi, Sep 26 (IBNS): Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, lauded India for the swift decision to ratify the Paris climate change agreement, COP21, media reported on Monday.
India will ratify the agreement on Oct 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday.
He made the announcement at BJP’s national council meeting in Kozhikode.
Modi said that global warming and the consequent threats, especially to coastal countries and cities is one of the key reasons behind ratifying the COP21.
