Assam: Another rhino poached in Kaziranga

Guwahati, Apr 22 (IBNS): Poachers continued its killing spree in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park (KNP), while forest guards on Saturday had found a dehorned carcass of a male rhino inside the park.

The park authorities said that the rhino was killed 3-4 days before.

The forest guards had found the bullet injuries dehorned carcass of a male rhino near the Kartik Chapori area under Agoratoli forest office in the world heritage site.

An official of KNP said that, poachers had fled with horn after killing the rhino.

It is a third rhino poaching incident in Kaziranga National Park.

Poachers killed two rhinos in the world heritage site in the month of February.

Meanwhile, activists of All Assam Students Union (AASU) on Saturday had staged protest against the state forest department in Kaziranga following continuous rhino poaching incidents in the national park.
