Kolkata Pinkathon successfully completes its first edition run with 3500 women participants

Kolkata, Mar 26 (IBNS): Kolkata Pinkathon, empowering Indian Women, an initiative to raise awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle for women and issues like breast cancer, successfully concluded first edition in Kolkata on Sunday, March 26, 2017atRangers Club, Maidan, 3500 women across age groups and from all different segments of the society participated enthusiastically in the V wash Plus 3 km, Mia by Tanishq5 km, 10 km and 21 km categories.

Flagging off the run was super-model, actor,fitness enthusiast avid barefoot runner and Pinkathonfounder Milind Soman.


Medical Partner Apollo Gleneagles Hospital will be providing a Medical tag for every participant Kolkata Pinkathon 2017. This medical tag will provide a free Mammogram to all the participants above 44yrs of age & a free Gynaecologist consultation for those who are under 44yrs from Apollo Hospital.


Some of the noteworthy participants in the run were a group of 30 visually impaired girls running the VWash Plus 3km distance with enthusiasm. Additionally the run witnessed a squad of cancer survivors who participated in Vwash Plus 3KM and Mia By Tanishq 5km. 20 Baby wearing mothers carrying babies just a few months old walked the Vwash Plus 3KM distance.  The run had participants as young as 4 months and as old as 75 years.


Commenting on the success of the Kolkata Pinkathon Milind Soman, Founder Pinkathon said,‘Pinkathon is more than a Marathon. It is the seed of change. It is the beginning of a movement carried forward by a growing community of empowered women across India, who share a belief that a healthy family, a healthy nation and a healthy world begins with empowered women. We are delighted to have such diverse crowd right from young school students, housewives, corporate, cancer survivors, underprivileged and visually impaired girls participating in Kolkata Pinkathon.’
