Gopalganj, Bihar, Aug 17 (IBNS) : At least ten people have died after drinking spurious liquor in Bihar's district town Gopalganj in the first instance of hooch tragedy after the state Government imposed total prohibition in April.

Media reports said five people died on Tuesday afternoon, while five more died till  Wednesday morning.

The victims were mostly vegetable vendors and daily labourers.

The district administration, which has denied that it is a hooch tragedy,  has formed three teams to probe reasons of the deaths.

According to reports, about 18 people had drunk liquor at a place in the  Khajurbani area and most of them started complaining of stomach pain and began vomitting. Five of them died in the middle of treatment in hospital
