Arvind Kejriwal won't be CM of Punjab

India Blooms News Service | | 11 Jan 2017, 08:08 pm
Chandigarh, Jan 11 (IBNS): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday clarified that he will not be the Chief Minister of Punjab in case his Aam Aadmi Party wins the polls in the north Indian state.

"I am the Chief Minister of Delhi. I cannot become Punjab Chief Minister," Kejriwal said while addressing a rally in Badshahpur village.

He hinted that in case his party comes to power then the Chief Ministrer will be someone who belongs to Punjab.

Fuelling speculations, AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Tuesday told people of Punjab that they should cast their votes by thinking that they are voting for Delhi Chief Minister and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal.

Sisodia's comments triggered speculations about AAP's choice of candidate for the Punjab CM's post.

Speaking at a public meeting here, the Delhi deputy chief minister said: "You should vote for us thinking that you are voting for Kejriwal."

Attacking Sisodia over his remark, Punjab deputy CM Sukhbir Badal tweeted: ".@ArvindKejriwal will never protect the interests of Punjab. His track record speaks for itself. He betrayed Punjab on SYL."

He said: "We are Punjabis first & anything else later. The sacrifices made by the brave punjabis for attaining the state of Punjab would be in vain, if an outsider becomes CM of our State."
