Bengaluru, Jan 19 (IBNS): In a first for Bengaluru, a woman was arrested by the police for allegedly throwing acid at her ex-lover's face, reports said.

The tryst turned sour after the man, identified as Purushottam, decided to stop the four-year old relationship.

The acid burned his right ear, cheek and temple, though it did not affect his eyes.

Lydia Yeshpaul, the detained, works as a nurse.

She also attacked the victim with a scalpel, slashing his face before attacking him with a bottle of acid.

Following a court ruling, Lydia will spend a fortnight in judicial custody.
