Haribhai Parithibhai Chaudhary inaugurates MSME Expo in Guwahati

Guwahati, Jan 20 (IBNS) : Minister of State under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, Haribhai Parithibhai Chaudhary inaugurated the National Vendor Development Program cum MSME Expo, 2017 at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre, Guwahati on Friday.

The programme cum expo was organised by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises – Development Institute, Guwahati in association with the Department of Industries and Commerce, Assam and Laghu Udyog Bharati, NER.

Altogether 130 MSME units have participated in today’s expo

Speaking as the chief guest, Minister Choudhary said that the Centre is planning to set up 15 new MSME Technology Centres in the country for the skill development of youth.

He said the country already has 18 such MSME technology centres that are helping to hone the skills of the youth.

  He also said that the Centre has put full thrust on development of the North-East and assured the gathering of all help and cooperation for success of the MSME sector which accounts for 45% of total industrial production and 40% of total exports.

State Industries and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary declared that the government would set up two industrial parks – one each for the small industries and macro industries to facilitate the growth and expansion of small and macro industries in the State.

He also said that the government would extend marketing support to MSME units for the first ten years in the State and called upon them to manufacture good quality products to compete with the global market.    

Minister Patowary added that the State Government has created land banks and made them available for industrialists to invest in Assam.

He further stated that the Government would open a new department to implement Centre’s Act East Policy.

Patowary projected that Assam is no more the periphery but the centre of investment in South-East Asia and ASEAN countries.

He appealed Minister Chaudhary to discuss with PM Narendra Modi to implement a new industrial policy for North-East as the existing NEIIPP expires on Mar 31, 2017.     

Additional Chief Secretary (Industries and Commerce) Ravi Capoor said that only technology-enabled MSME units can surge the sector ahead in the 21st century.

The programme was attended by MLA Narayan Deka, N. Sutradhar, Deputy Director, MSME,  Sanjib Gupta, Regional Head, SIDBI, Om Prakash Mittal, National President of Laghu Udyog Bharati and BL Agarwalla, President, Laghu Udyog Bharati (NER).
