MCD election: 16 pct turnout till 12 noon

New Delhi, Apr 23 (IBNS): Voting for the high profile Municipal Corporations of Delhi witnessed a 16 percent turnout till noon on Sunday, media reports said.

A total of 270 municipal wards have gone to the polls.

The Delhi Police has reportedly deployed over 56,000 police personnel across the national capital to ensure a smooth election.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal were among the early voters.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dominated the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for a decade.

The national capital recently saw fierce campaign by the Congress, BJP, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
